The Athens Foundation is growing.
Executive Director Susan Urano said the Foundation is taking on the management of The Solly & Sammy's Foundation for Peace.
Urano said The Athens Foundation now administers almost 30 separate funds as part of its effort to enhance the quality of life in this region.
The Solly and Sammy's Foundation for Peace, "is committed to eliminating senseless acts of violence and unnecessary suffering."
It supports other not for profit organizations "through grant-making and community involvement ."
Urano said Solly and Sammy's was founded November 2010 by Sarah Adkins of Athens.
"The Solly and Sammy Foundation will continue to exist as it has in the past," she said. "They will be raising funds to help families in crisis, specifically families that have endured tragedies. Grants will be be made as they have in the past for similar things. The Athens Foundation will be providing back office support for this foundation, which is managed by national board."
Solly and Sammy's Foundation for Peace's main mission is to raise funds that will be provided to other non-profits that share missions of non-violence, grief support, and awareness of suffering.
