The Navy has disciplined five sailors for their roles in the training accident deaths of two Navy divers in Maryland.

Navy Diver 1st Class James Reyher of Caldwell, Ohio, and Navy Diver 2nd Class Ryan Harris of Gladstone, Mo., drowned on Feb. 26 while working at the Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group 2 spokesman Lt. Nathan Potter says the Navy can't release the names of those who received the non-judicial punishment because it is an administrative matter.

Each sailor may choose to challenge the punishment in a court martial.

In June, a hearing was held to determine whether to press formal criminal charges against two sailors for dereliction of duty and involuntary manslaughter. The nonjudicial punishments stem from that investigation.
