Ohio (3-1) struggled for the majority of its game against Morgan State (0-4), but the Bobcats made plays down the stretch in their 65-62 victory over the Bears.

Ohio had the ball with the game tied and with 28 seconds left. The Bobcats passed the ball around the perimeter until about 10 seconds remained on the clock. Stevie Taylor then made his move to the hoop.

Taylor drove the right side of the lane and finished a layup over a Morgan State defender while he was fouled with two seconds left in the game. He then converted the free throw to give Ohio the 65-62 lead and the game. Taylor had nine points in the game on 3-of-9 shooting.

Maurice Ndour stepped up in the final three minutes of the game, scoring five points down the stretch before fouling out. He made a huge 3-pointer with 2:50 left to give Ohio a 60-58 lead. Then with the game tied at 60, Ndour hit a long jump shot to put the Bobcats out in front, 62-60.

The Senegal native led Ohio in scoring for the third time this season with 13 points. He also had 8 rebounds and 2 blocks in the game.

Junior point guard Javarez “Bean” Willis provided the Bobcats a spark off the bench against Morgan State, as he scored 11 points while going 4-for-6 from the field.

Jon Smith also gave Ohio a lift in the second half, as he scored all nine of his points in the final 20 minutes in the game. Smith also had 4 rebounds and 2 blocks in the game.

Ohio returns home Saturday when it takes on the Heidelberg Student Princes at 2 p.m.
