The Rio Grande RedStorm handed Bluefield (3-41) its 17th straight loss, as the RedStorm (24-13) swept the series with wins of 4-0 and 11-4 on Friday.
Jenna Jones came out hot for game one, throwing a no-hitter for the RedStorm. The no-no was Jones’ third of the season, and she also struck out three.
Second baseman Alex Kuhn led Rio Grande by going 2 for 3 and batting in a run. Kari Jenkins also got two RBIs on the outing.
Jones kept it rolling in game two, but this time it was from the plate. She went 3 for 4 with the only double of the game. Jones also scored three times and stole a base. Kuhn had an even better day at the plate, batting a perfect 4 for 4, had four RBIs and two runs scored.
Tiffany Bise pitched 5 2/3 innings, striking out two, but gave up four runs on six hits. Katie Noll finished the game on the mound by not allowing a hit and striking out one.
