The Trimble Tomcats made the 15-minute trip to Nelsonville-York on Friday night, and headed back to Glouster with a smile on their faces after earning their third consecutive win over the Buckeyes by a score of 34-14.

The pace of game was slow to start, as the score remained tied at zero at the end of the first quarter.

But, the Buckeyes (0-1) took the early advantage in the second quarter, capitalizing on a 15-play, 97-yard drive that resulted in sophomore fullback Noah Andrews plunging into the end zone on a 1-yard rush to put the Buckeyes up 7-0. The Buckeyes finished with 244 yards rushing as a team, led by Alex Mount, who compiled 160 yards on 24 carries and a touchdown.

The Tomcats (1-0) would not stay down for long, though, as senior wide receiver Austin Downs hauled in a 20-yard pass from quarterback Andrew Losey to tie the game at 7-7 with 7:03 left in the half. Downs finished the night with 2 catches and 29 rushing yards.

The Tomcats kept their momentum going when Downs intercepted a pass from Buckeye sophomore quarterback Hunter Edwards with just less than six minutes remaining in the half. Trimble running back Justice Jenkins capitalized on the turnover with a three-yard touchdown run to put the Tomcats up 14-7 over the Buckeyes.

Jenkins was the star of the night for the Tomcats, as the junior ran for 224 yards on 15 carries and scored four touchdowns, including a key 67-yard score with just 21.5 seconds left before halftime to bump the Tomcats lead to 21-7 over the Buckeyes.

In the third quarter the tough Trimble defense flexed its muscles again, as Jenkins picked off a pass and returned it 45-yards to give the Tomcats solid field position. However, the drive would stall and the score remained 21-7 as the teams headed toward the fourth quarter.

After the Buckeyes scored to cut the deficit to 21-14, Jenkins answered the score with another long TD run, this time from 54-yards out, increasing the Tomcats lead back to 13 at 27-14. Jenkins then sealed the game a few possessions later, as he scampered for a 45-yard touchdown on a 4th-and-1, increasing the score to the final of 34-14.

Trimble looks to continue their nineteen-game regular season winning streak when they take on Belpre (1-0) at home next Friday. Nelsonville-York hopes to get on track they take on Newark Catholic (1-0) at home. Both games are scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
