The Mid-American Conference released its women’s basketball poll on Tuesday and Ohio took the fifth spot on the East side sitting above only Buffalo.

This season is head coach Semeka Randall's fourth under the helm in Athens. The Bobcats finished just 9-22 overall and 4-12 in the conference last year. Ohio returns guards Tenishia Benson, Shavon Robinson and Ashley Fowler to a team that has just one senior (Tenishia Benson) on the roster. Ohio's roster boasts six new faces – five freshman and junior college transfer forward Porsha Harris.

Bowling Green, despite losing four starters after last season, took the first place spot in the East. Last season, the Falcons finished 28-5 and were 13-3 in conference play. The team also made the conference's lone appearance in the NCAA tournament.  Miami (OH) and Akron were ranked second and third, respectively.

On the west side, Toledo was named to the number one spot in the poll and was picked to win the MAC Tournament at the end of the season. Also receiving votes to be the tournament champion were Central Michigan, BGSU, and Eastern Michigan. Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan took the second and third spots on the West and Northern Illinois, Ball State and Western Michigan earned the fourth, fifth, and sixth spots, respectively.

Ohio opens their regular season on November 13 at Morehead State following two exhibition games at the Convocation Center on November 1 and November 8. In exhibition, Ohio will face Ohio Valley and Lake Erie College.
