ODNR Offers “A Day In The Woods” For Woodland Owners
< < Back to odnr-offers-day-woods-woodland-ownersWoodland owners in Southeast Ohio will have an opportunity to get a little education about the natural resources that are so close to home for them.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources and The Ohio State University Extension office have teamed to offer "A Day In the Woods."
OSU Natural Resources Specialist David Apsley says the day kicks off a series of educational sessions for woodland owners.
Apsley says given that a majority of Ohio woods are privately owned, it's important information for woodland owners to know.
"In Ohio about 80% of our woodlands are owned by private individuals, family farms or family forest owners, and those folks often don't realize what they've got or how to manage it so we're there to provide information," said Apsley.
The series begins April 14 at the Vinton Furnace State Experimental Forest near McArthur between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Apsley says the programs are sponsored by ODNR, OSU extension, as well as Hocking College, Glatfelter Paper and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
More information about the series is available on the program's blog.
