< < Back to ou-student-no-longer-eyeing-oh-house-seatAn Ohio University student has dropped out of the Ohio House of Representatives race.
Luke Scott is the Wellston City Council President who was on the November ballot for the 93rd House of Representatives seat.
He turned in his paperwork Tuesday at the Lawrence County Board of Elections, resigning his candidacy.
Scott said it was a hard decision and he felt like he needed to fulfill his promise to the people of Wellston.
He says he will finish his term on council and see what happens in the future to determine his path in future elections.
The Democratic Party is now responsible for appointing someone to run on the November ballot against Gallia County resident, Ryan Smith.
Smith, a Republican, is currently holding the seat.
