An Athens County man who was shot in the face on the side of the road is now up against criminal charges.

Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly says 33-year-old Bryan Withrow, of Albany, is charged with receiving stolen property.

In late May, Withrow told officers he was standing by his overheated car on the side of State Road 681 when someone pulled up and shot him.

He then drove himself to a store to call 911.

Officers later questioned Withrow on some inconsistent statements.

Now, Sheriff Kelly says Withrow's license was the identification on file for some items turned in to a salvage yard that were reported stolen.

Withrow is currently being held at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
