FEMA Meets With Washington Co. Leaders
< < Back to fema-meets-washington-co-leadersOfficials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency met with nearly 30 Washington County government and non-profit organizations for storm damage assessments Tuesday.
This meeting was just a preliminary step, no assistance was promised.
Belpre Mayor Mike Lorentz estimated it cost his city $56,000 in recovery efforts.
Washington Electric Cooperative CEO Ken Schilling says it was the worst damage his company has seen in years, counting millions of dollars spent on labor and materials.
FEMA agents will have to consider several factors, including income, insurance coverage and certain monetary thresholds for county and state government.
If Washington County qualifies, this could be the first of many meetings.
Thirty-eight other Ohio counties have also qualified for the preliminary interviews.
