Vinton County Handles Trimble
< < Back to vinton-county-handles-trimbleIt was a tough night for the Trimble Lady Tomcats losing 51-31 to dominant and defensive Vinton County Lady Vikings.
The Tomcats ended the night with 20 turnovers and only shot for 7-of-16 and 2-of-8 from the three-point line. However, the Tomcats had a good night on the free-throw line shooting 73 percent.
The star player for the Tomcats was freshman forward Nikki Kish leading her team with 10 points and six rebounds. Tia Altier added six points, five rebounds and one block.
The troubles started early for the Tomcats as they trailed 25-13 at the half, unable to force the ball up the court against Vinton County’s defense, who picked apart Trimble’s offense with 15 steals on the night.
But it was Vinton County’s offense and their ball handling skills that dominated tonight, shooting 56 percent and going 4-of-9 from behind the arc.
Caitlyn Owings led the Vikings with 13 points and two steals, followed by Cayla Allen with 10 points and six rebounds.
Trimble is back in action on the road Friday against Miller.
