Streaking Lancers Take Care Of Rebels
< < Back to streaking-lancers-take-care-rebelsThe Federal Hocking Lancers pulled out a 62-43 over the South Gallia Rebels Friday night behind stellar guard play and the usual recipie of defense and free throws.
The Lancers forced 20 turnovers and held South Gallia to 31 percent shooting from three, as they frustrated the Rebels all night.
Fed Hock also shot 19-for-26 from the foul line, with 21 of those attempts coming in the second half. Compare this to South Gallia, who only shot 7-for-15 from the free throw line.
The Lancers were led by Alfy Nichols and Shawn Parsons, who had 15 points each. Center Max Carney was held in check by the stout Rebels defense as he finished with only eight points and four rebounds.
South Gallia struggled with offense all night, as not a single player finished in double figures. The leading scorer for the Rebels was Michael Wheeler with nine points.
Keeping the Rebels in the game was freshman Landon Hutchinson. He played with a ton of energy on both ends of the court and finished with six points and 11 rebounds.
This victory keeps Federal Hocking atop the TVC-Hocking standings heading into their rematch with Belpre on Tuesday. Belpre handed the Lancers their only TVC-Hocking loss of the season so far and the winner of that game will be the leader in the conference.
