Junior swimmer Laurin Williams posted her second best 500 yard freestyle time of the year at the NCAA Championships Thursday. However, the 4:48.58 finish was not fast enough to put Williams in the finals, as she finished 51st.
Amber McDermott, a sophomore from the University of Georgia, was the top qualifier with a time 4:36.26. The 16th and final qualifier for the finals, Jordan Mattern, finished the race in 4:41.55.
Williams, Ohio’s lone representative at the NCAA Championships, is not done competing, though. She will also swim in the 1650 freestyle Saturday.
