Ohio Women’s Golf Finishes Fifth In EKU Classic
< < Back to ohio-womens-golf-finishes-fifth-eku-classicThe Ohio Women's Golf team competed in the 2013 Eastern Kentucky University Lady Colonel Classic this weekend, where they finished fifth. The team's score of 924 was the fifth lowest in school history and the best finish since the MAC Championships during the 1999-2000 season.
Ohio's top golfer was senior Kara Brinkmann, who shot 228 over three rounds and finished tied for eighth in the individual tournament. The eighth place finish marks the second time Brinkmann has finished in the top 10 in her career.
Angela Codian and Julie Lechner both shot a 230 and finished tied for 12th at the end of the tournament.
Sarah Tranelli shot a 241 and finished tied for 49th place. Kristen Helmsdoerfer shot a team-high 244 and finished tied for 59th.
The Bobcats' youngest golfer, freshman Lauren McKinzie, shot a 237 that included a collegiate career-best 77. McKinzie finished in 37th place.
Ohio returns to action Saturday, April 13 at the Bowling Green Falcon Invitational.
