Beverly Police Rescue Deer Stuck In River Locks

It's something you don't see everyday, a deer swimming in the river.

When one deer got stuck between two locks and the dam, the Beverly Police Department stepped in to help get him free.

It happened Tuesday morning, when police got a call about the deer being stuck in the locks.

With quick thinking and the help from a local construction company, they were able to free the deer.

"We were able to coax the deer out of the locks, and get the lock wall open," says Beverly Police Department Chief, Mark Sams.

Police say the deer may have fallen into the locks.

While it's not clear exactly how long the deer was in the water, police say it seemed exhausted when it was finally able to run free.
