Ohio Cross-Country Women Take Second, Men Fourth
< < Back to ohio-cross-country-women-take-second-men-fourthOhio’s women's cross-country team captured the second spot behind only the nationally-ranked Florida State squad and the men took home fourth place in the Wake Forest Invitational on Friday.
Senior Juli Accurso led the charge for the Bobcats in the 6-kilometer race as she finished in the third spot overall with a time of 21:05.00. Junior Morgan Reichert and sophomore Krista Roehlig finished next for the 'Cats in ninth and 15th places overall with times of 21:39.83 and 21:59.52, respectively.
Sophomore Kayla Scott followed closely behind with a time of 22:02.79 to claim the 17th spot. Rounding out the top five for the Bobcats by finishing in 21st place was senior Melissa Thompson with a time of 22:11.96.
The Ohio women finished with 59 overall team points only behind Florida State who had 19 points. The 'Cats had an average team time of 21:47.71.
In the men's 8-kilometer race, sophomore Jarrod Genther finished 11th overall with a time of 25:27.83 to finish first for the Bobcats. Senior Chase Robinson and junior Jacob Stephens turned in solid efforts with times of 25:40.40 and 25:50.83 to finish in 17th and 20th overall, respectively.
Junior Kurt Steinmuller and sophomore Jake Gentile both helped out the 'Cats to finish fourth and fifth for the team with times of 26:00.91 and 26:14.16, respectively. These times helped Ohio to finish with the 25th and 29th overall spots.
The men received 92 team points to place fourth overall with an average team time of 25:50.83.
The Bobcats will return to action on Oct. 4 as half the team will go to Cedarville, Ohio, to compete in the All-Ohio Championship while the other half of the team will go to South Bend, Ind., to compete at Notre Dame. In both events the women step off at 2:00 p.m. and the men's race starts at 2:45.
