Marietta Falls To Wooster In Extra Time 1-0
< < Back toThe Marietta men’s soccer team suffered a difficult loss Tuesday as it fell to the College of Wooster 1-0 in extra time.
The deciding goal came in the 99th minute when George Skelly found the back of the net.
The Pioneers had difficulty generating offense against the Fighting Scots’ defense as they only managed six shots and one shot on goal. Wooster, however, had plenty of chances. The Fighting Scots had 22 shots total, including 10 shots on goal.
Chris Stollar started in goal for Marietta and recorded four saves in the first half. Bobby Thaxton played the second half. Thaxton recorded five saves and allowed the game-winning goal.
Marietta (3-5) will look to rebound against Thomas More College (5-2). The College of Wooster (2-4-1) will also be in action Saturday as it takes on Ohio Wesleyan (9-0).
