Ohio Prepares For Division III Opponent, Heidelberg
< < Back to ohio-prepares-division-iii-opponent-heidelbergOhio (3-1) will look to continue its winning ways at home Saturday when it takes on the Heidelberg Student Princes (1-1).
The Bobcats are coming off an ugly 65-62 win on the road against the Morgan State Bears. Tied at 62 with less than 30 seconds left, point guard Stevie Taylor drove to the basket and converted an and-1 layup, giving Ohio the lead and the game.
Maurice Ndour again led the Bobcats in scoring with 13 points. He also ripped down 8 rebounds and blocked 2 shots for Ohio.
Coach Jim Christian’s squad struggled at the offensive end of the floor for the second straight game. Ohio only shot 43 percent from the field, 25 percent from 3-point range and 65 percent from the free throw line.
Heidelberg is led by guard Keith Mackie, who averages 13 points per game. Marcquice Taylor is Heidelberg’s second leading scorer, averaging 12 points per game.
This game is more about Ohio than it is about Heidelberg, though. Because Heidelberg is a Division III team, it will be difficult for the Student Princes to compete with Ohio.
This game presents an opportunity for Ohio to get back on track offensively. The Bobcats will be the more talented team on the floor Saturday. They have faced tougher competition that Heidelberg so far this season. If Ohio simply takes care of the basketball and executes on offense, it will have no problem disposing of Heidelberg.
Ohio and Heidelberg will face off in the Convo at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
