The Ohio Volleyball team (27-5) will play the Big 10 Conference's Michigan State (21-11) in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Volleyball Championship.

The game will be in Lexington, Ky., on Friday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m.

The 15th-seeded Kentucky Wildcats will serve as the host of Ohio's opening round game(s). The Wildcats welcome Duquesne as their first round opponent. The winner will play the winner of Ohio's match in the Tournament's second round.

This is the eighth time Ohio has made the NCAA Tournament. The 'Cats are 5-8 all time in the NCAA Championship.

Several Bobcats made a point of saying their goal was to play in December this season. After winning the Mid-American Conference regular season title and the conference tournament, Ohio will play in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2010. Veterans Mollie Geske and Liis Kullerkann are the only members of that Bobcat team still with the program.

Ohio head coach Ryan Theis has led the program to the NCAA Tournament three times in his tenure (2009, 2010, 2013).

Ohio is 0-2 all-time against the Spartans, but the Bobcats have yet to lose in nine games in neutral locations this season.
