Athens To Honor, Celebrate International Day For Persons With Disabilities
< < Back to athens-honor-celebrate-international-day-persons-disabilitiesThe Athens Commission on Disabilities is hosting an event Tuesday, Dec. 3, to honor and celebrate the International Day for Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).
The event was organized with the help of current Ohio University students and professors and will be held at Grover Center from 5-8 p.m.
Darrell Purdy – assistant director for employee accommodation and campus accessibility at Ohio University – and William Peacock – doctor at Cleveland Clinic – are scheduled to speak.
The event will feature student panels discussing certain aspects of living with a disability, simulations, a film room showing independent short films and more, according to Beth Mishler, a OU graduate student who is currently producing a video series on hunger for WOUB.
Proceeds from a silent auction for artwork will go to the Athens Food Pantries.
