Red Cross Saw Drop In Blood Donations Because Of Winter Weather

Rodney Wilson, communications manager for the local American Red Cross blood program, said that the cold weather has forced 42 Central Ohio blood drives to be canceled, resulting in a deficit of more then 1,100 blood donations locally.
Nationally, the Red Cross has needed to cancel more then 35,000 blood drives in 34 states, including Ohio, Wilson said.
Local opportunities to donate include:
- Feb. 24 at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1 to 6 p.m., 15024 St. Rt. 328, Logan
- Feb. 26 at Young's Family Market, noon to 6 p.m., 5986 St. Rt. 56, Laurelville
- Mar. 6 at Hocking County Community Blood Drive at AMVETS Post 1776, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., 649 Radio Lane, Logan
- Mar. 13 at Green Elementary School, 1 to 7 p.m., 13495 Maysville-Williams Rd, Logan
