< < Back to some-hocking-county-government-workers-are-double-dippingSixteen members of Hocking County government are "double dipping," or retiring on paper, and working for the same employer to collect a paycheck and a pension.
Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS) says that 8,261 of the 12,549 double dippers receive OPERS benefits.
Double dipping can makes it increasingly difficult for other employees to move up the ranks and can tie up funds for future employees to be hired.
Hocking County Commissioner Sandy Ogle is against the practice of double dipping and would like to see the practice disbanded.
Among the Hocking County double dippers are Hocking County Auditor Ken Wilson, Hocking County Engineer Bill Shaw and Hocking County Sheriff Lanny North.
