Public Forums For South Green Drive Project Planned
< < Back to public-forums-south-green-drive-project-plannedThe public is invited to give feedback regarding plans to extend South Green Drive on the Ohio University campus from its current end point near the New Life Assembly church, to connect with Mill Street.
Two forums will be held Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the third floor atrium of Baker University Center and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Athens City Hall.
Representatives from the engineering design team, as well as Ohio University Design and Construction, will be available to answer questions and field public comment.
The concept for the proposed extension stems from the university’s 2006 campus master plan as a means to give another point of entry to campus. Some of the aims of the proposed project include allowing traffic to flow more efficiently away from heavily traveled pedestrian routes and offering an alternative route for high traffic events, such as move in/move out weekends and sporting events.
Construction on the proposed extension would begin this summer and take approximately three months to complete. The estimated cost to the university for the project is approximately $1.5 million.
