Hutchinson Snags MAC East Player Of The Week Honors
< < Back to hutchinson-snags-mac-east-player-week-honorsOhio’s freshman infielder Casie Hutchinson was named MAC East Player of the Week on Moday, joining sophomore Amanda Dalton and junior Adrienne Gebele as the three Bobcats to win the award this season.
The freshman lead the Bobcats to an offensive explosion this past weekend. In the first four league games, she hit .625, had a .688 slugging percentage, and had a team-high 10 hits while collecting three RBI’s. She now has five straight multi-hit games.
In their 14-4 victory over Eastern Michigan in Ohio’s MAC opener on Friday, Hutchinson went 3 for 5 with three singles, drove in two, and scored two runs of her own. In the second matchup later that evening, she collected three more hits and one more run as she led Ohio to a 12-4 thumping.
When Ohio traveled to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas, the freshman continued her hot streak, as she went 2 for 4 at the plate with a double and an RBI. In the series finale on Sunday against CMU, Hutchinson went 2 for 3 with two more singles in the 5-0 loss.
In her first season as a Bobcat, Hutchinson is second on the team in many offensive categories. She posts a .330 batting average, has collected 33 hits, and crossed the plate 15 times. In the 32 games the freshman has started this year, she has hit safely in 19 of them.
Hutchinson looks to stay on her hot streak as Ohio returns to Athens this weekend. Ohio plays host to MAC foes Kent State with a doubleheader on Friday, and welcome Buffalo for Saturday-Sunday series.
