Dorsey Dominates In 6-0 Shutout Of Bowling Green

With another dominating Savannah Jo Dorsey performance on the mound, Ohio took down the Bowling Green Falcons by a score of 6-0 on Saturday.
Dorsey threw seven innings of three-hit ball while only walking one and striking out 11. It was Dorsey’s 13th complete game of the season and she moved to 16-12 on the year with the win. She did not give up a hit at any point after facing the second BG batter of the game until the sixth inning, in which she got herself out of a second and third, one-out jam.
“She was at her best today,” head coach Jodi Hermanek said.
In front of packed stands in what was easily the most attended home game of the season for the Bobcats, the ‘Cats knocked the ball around the diamond as well, as they moved to 7-2 in the MAC.
“It’s always a fun atmosphere when you have a lot of little youth softball players and middle school players here,” Hermanek said. “…It just makes the environment, the game, the excitement a little bit more fun.”
In the second inning, Alexandria Basquez worked a 3-0 count in the second inning and then proceeded to take two strikes and foul off a third. On a full count, Basquez lifted the Jamie Kertes offering over the left field fence to put Ohio up 2-0.
Fans came out in droves, with young softball players from Meigs and Logan Elm coming to support the Bobcats. The girls were particularly enthralled to see the success of freshman left fielder Sloan Walker.
Walker is from Circleville and attended Logan Elm High School. She came through for her admirers, as she hit a two-run single to cap off the scoring in the second inning at 4-0. Walker went 2 for 4 on the day and made several loud applause-worthy plays in left field.
“It just makes me feel really proud to be where I’m from,” Walker said.
Walker has seen her playing time extended as of late, and is now 5 for 10 in conference play at the plate, and has stolen four bases in that time.
“Speed is one of the things I really lean on in my game,” Walker said. “I feel like I can make things happen when I’m on the bases.”
Madison Claytor and Alexia Cortez both picked up two hits, which was good as the two had seen their respective batting averages dip slightly as of late. It does not seem to matter who it is though that gets things done, because since MAC play has started, someone has consistently stepped up.
Adrienne Gebele also picked up a hit and an RBI.
“The team is coming out and being a consistent unit, today and yesterday,” Hermanek said. “…That is what is winning us games and that’s what we expect to see tomorrow too.”
