A former Meigs County deputy faces felony charges in three counties.

Robert Tate, 34, of Little Hocking was arrested Friday after leading Athens County deputies on a chase ending in Coolville.

He's charged out of Athens with a felony count of fleeing and eluding.

Tate is also accused of not returning his equipment from the Meigs Sheriff's Office and tampering with records in Washington County related to a divorce proceeding.

"He decided to flee police officers. That was his decision. His actions speak for themselves – put it that way. It's sad that he chose what he chose," says Chief Deputy Mark Warden, with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Tate remains in the Washington County Jail.

No date is set for his arraignment, but the sheriff's office says that should happen on the next available court date.
