WOUB Public Media, Ohio University Staff Receive Regional Emmy Nominations

Two WOUB Public Media employees, along with staff from three Ohio University departments have been nominated for Emmy awards. The awards ceremony will be held Saturday, August 2 at the Hilton Columbus Downtown.
Evan Shaw, WOUB chief videographer/editor, and Grant Burkhardt, digital content editor, have been nominated in the Arts/Entertainment category for “Honey for the Heart,” a feature that follows a group of artists as they create giant puppets for a Halloween parade in Athens, Ohio. Shaw received a second nomination in the Photographer-program category for the feature.
Shaw, along with School of Communication Studies Professor Lynn Harter, have been nominated in the Arts/Entertainment category for “The Courage of Creativity,” an excerpt of a new documentary series that focuses on the power of art programming to help individuals and organizations.
These nominations make 15 total nominations for Shaw, who has taken home eight Emmys in his career.
The “Voice of the Bobcats” Russ Eisenstein has been nominated in the Sports category for his work with Ohio Athletics and David Urano, director of video and photography services, was nominated in the Commercial category for the Ohio University Communications and Marketing campaign “It’s Y{}u.”
The Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is one of 19 regional chapters throughout the United States. The chapter presents the Emmy awards to television professionals in thirteen markets in West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
