Former Chauncey Police Chief Has Bond Tripled
< < Back to former-chauncey-police-chief-has-bond-tripledThe former Chauncey police chief facing charges for his role in a Gloucester drug ring will face a bond cost three times higher than previously expected.
Athens County Common Pleas Court set Charles Wachenschwanz's bond at $300,000.
His bond was originally set at $100,000, which his attorney argued should be reduced in the first place.
Wachenschwanz faces seven charges including drug trafficking, possession of marijuana, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity.
He is accused of working with Derrick Gyure, the leader of the Gloucester drug ring who pleaded guilty to various charges last month.
Former Detroit Police officer, Brandon Allen, is the accused supplier in the drug ring. He pleaded not guilty in an Athens County arraignment and will stand trial in October.
