Week 6 Power Rankings: TVC-Ohio

1. Athens Bulldogs (6-0, 2-0) | Last week’s ranking: 1

After six weeks of play, Athens is still the top dog in the TVC-Ohio. With an impressive 58-42 road win over power house Steubenville, Athens looks primed to run the table.

2. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes (4-2, 2-0) | Last week’s ranking: 3

A monstrous 32-14 over Meigs boosted the Buckeyes up a spot in this week’s rankings. Having won four of its previous five games, Nelsnoville-York’s offense has revolved around running back Alex Mount, who accumulated 367 yards and three touchdowns in week six.

3. Alexander Spartans (4-2, 2-1) | Last week’s ranking: 4

Alexander scored the final 14 points of its game to escape with a 14-13 win over Vinton County. Quarterback Brody McGrath’s 232 total yards lifted the Spartans on a rainy, sloppy night. With the win, the Spartans have quadrupled their win total from 2013.

4. Meigs Marauders (3-3, 2-1) | Last week’s ranking: 2

2013 has been like a roller coaster ride for the Marauders. In their victories, the Marauders have scored 46 or more points each time. In their losses, however, they haven’t scored more than 14.

5. Wellston Golden Rockets (3-3, 1-1) | Last week’s ranking: 5

Wellston fought off a late rally from River Valley to escape with a 33-32 last week. The win elevated Wellston’s record to .500, but its defense has struggled lately, allowing at least 31 points in each of its previous three games.

6. River Valley Raiders (3-3, 0-3) | Last week’s ranking: 6

After rattling off three consecutive wins to start the season, the Raiders have dropped three straight conference matchups. River Valley’s defense stood strong in the team’s opening three games when the allowed just over 10 points per contest. Over the past three weeks, River Valley allowed approximately 36 points per game

7. Vinton County Vikings (0-6, 0-3) | Last week’s ranking: 7

The Vikings remain at the bottom of the power rankings and are still searching for their first win. That elusive first win almost arrived last week, but 14 unanswered point from Alexander kept the zero in the win column.
