The council outlined the 2015 Strategic Plan for Cabell, Putnam and Kanawha counties on Monday.
The plan, which is led by the Mayor’s Office of Drug Control Policy, was established to eradicate addiction and treat addicted residents with proper health care, strengthen law enforcement and opportunities throughout treatment and recovery.
Huntington Mayor Steve Williams says the initiative had been in development since November.
Williams says the collaboration of local and state health departments, the governor’s office and the Marshall University’s School of Medicine and School of Pharmacy will assist in combating, treating and preventing drug-related illnesses in the three counties.
