JACKSON – An early morning incident in Jackson reportedly led to the death of two people and the hospitalization of another.

David W. Hoover, 54, and Paul M. Christian, 52, were found dead at a home on Ohio Avenue on Monday by Jackson police, according to a news release by the department.

Police responded to 133 Ohio Avenue when a caller to 911 reported screaming and shots fired.

“On arrival, an adult male subject was lying in front of the residence,” the release stated. “A second adult male and adult female were located in the residence; both appeared to have been shot.”

The incident was “a result of a domestic dispute,” according to the Jackson police release.

Hoover and Christian were pronounced dead at the scene by Jackson County Deputy Coroner John Peters. The female, identified as Emily Johnetta Adkins, 22, was taken to Holzer Medical Center in Jackson. As of Tuesday afternoon, Holzer Medical Center staff said Adkins was not a patient of the hospital.

According to WSAZ, Adkins was flown to a Huntington hospital from Holzer, though her condition has not been confirmed.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation’s Crime Scene Unit was requested to assist with the investigation, according to Jill Del Greco, public information officer for the bureau. Del Greco could not confirm details of the investigation or the status of Adkins.

Calls to Jackson Police Chief Carl Eisnaugle were not returned as of 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Jackson Mayor Randy Heath told WSAZ that police are not looking into other suspects in the case.
