Ohio Field Hockey Battles Ohio State for State Bragging Rights
< < Back toAfter two hard fought games over the weekend, the Bobcats are back sitting at .500 in 2015 with a 3-3. They look to capture a winning record on Sunday for the first time since their season opener. The ‘Cats will take on a state rival in the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The ‘cats will be traveling to the home of the Buckeyes this Sunday with the mindset to arrive back in Athens with another win. Coach Neil Macmillan believes that his team matches up very well against the Scarlet and Grey.
“Our midfields match up very well against them,” he said. “It’s going to be how their forwards play against our defense and vice versa.” Macmillan also pointed out that in the last few years the matchup has been pretty equal with the majority of the games being a one-goal wins.
In the past five matchups, the Bobcats hold a 3-2 advantage in the series. Ohio defended its home turf last year in a 1-0 win over the Buckeyes.
The Bobcats are used to playing on the road, and they are used to winning there as “there is not a huge home field advantage in our sport, though there’s a slight variation between some of the fields,” Macmillan said.
The Bobcats will play the Buckeyes at 1 p.m. on Sunday with the intent take the state for another year.
