Nelsonville Man Dies In Crash
< < Back to 135821RICHLAND TWP. — A Nelsonville man died and a woman was injured in a Tuesday crash in Fairfield County, according to law enforcement officials.
The crash occurred at about 7 a.m. on State Route 664 north in Rushville, according to a news release by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lancaster post.
Jediah Rempel, 32, was traveling southbound on the road in a 2009 Toyota Prius. Linda Young, 57, was traveling northbound on the same road in a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Rempel’s vehicle then traveled left of center and struck Young’s vehicle head-on, according to troopers.
The man was transported to the Fairfield Medical Center where he died, the release stated. Young was taken to Grant Medical Center. Her condition is unknown.
State Highway Patrol officials said Rempel was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Richland Twp. and Pleasant Twp. emergency medical services responded to the scene, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit is assisting with the investigation, which remains ongoing.
Alcohol was not considered to be a factor in the crash.
