Ohio Wrestling Ranked 21st by InterMat
< < Back to ohio-wrestling-ranked-21st-by-intermatOhio Wrestling has been ranked 21st by InterMat’s Tournament preseason ranking. The Bobcats are joined by four other MAC schools: Missouri (9), Northern Iowa (15), Old Dominion (17) and Kent State (20).
Five senior wrestlers have been ranked in the top 20 in their weight class. Cody Walters, ranked fifth in the 174 pound weight class, earned the highest ranking of any Bobcat. Joining Walters was Phil Wellington, Tyrann Claxton, Spartak Chino and Andrew Romanchik, ranked ninth, 10th, 13th and 20th respectively.
Last year Chino, Claxton and Walters all won their first match in the NCAA tournament, but lost in the next round.
The wrestling season begins on Nov. 1 with an intersquad scrimmage. The regular season begins on Nov. 7 at the EMU Duals, where Ohio will face Northwestern, Edinboro and Michigan State.
