Week 9 Power Rankings: TVC-Ohio
< < Back to week-9-power-rankings-tvc-ohio-21.) Alexander 8-1 (5-0) | Last Rank: 1 | Next Opponent: @ Meigs
The TVC-Ohio title is Alexander’s to lose, especially with the way its defense has played as of late. The Spartans have allowed an average of 6.25 points per game during their last four.
Combine that with Mason Chapman, who recorded five touchdowns and an interception against Trimble on Friday, and things are looking up for the Spartans.
2.) River Valley 7-2 (4-2) | Last Rank: | Next Opponent: @ Shadyside
Friday’s win against Athens gave River Valley its highest single-season win total in the last 20 years. Dayton Hardaway shredded Athens’s defense for 226 yards and three touchdowns with Kirk Morrow accounting for two of those scores and 109 yards on ten catches.
3.) Athens 5-4 (3-2) | Last Rank: 2 | Next Opponent: Nelsonville-York
River Valley held Zacciah Saltzman to 138 rushing yards, a pedestrian night by his lofty standards. The loss eliminated Athens from TVC-Ohio title contention, but a winning season and Doc Kroner trophy remain up for grabs.
4.) Meigs 6-3 (4-1) | Last Rank: 3 | Next Opponent: Alexander
Cody Batrum piled on 312 yards and five touchdowns in Meigs’s shootout win against Wellston. The Marauders will need more of the same in order to break through Alexander’s defense.
5.) Wellston 4-5 (1-4) | Last Rank: 5 | Next Opponent: Vinton County
Despite putting up 42 and 38 points against Athens and Meigs respectively, the Rockets have dropped their last two games. Quarterback Braydon Womeldorf was able to tally 139 total yards with a touchdown against a solid Marauder defense.
6.) Vinton County 2-7 (1-4) | Last Rank: 7 | Next Opponent: Wellston
Vinton County has taken advantage of its weakest portion of its schedule, averaging 34.3 points per game over the last three weeks. Two of the three games came against cellar-dwellers Federal Hocking and Nelsonville-York.
7.) Nelsonville-York 1-8 (0-5) | Last Rank: 6 | Next Opponent: Athens
Vinton County gashed Nelsonvile-York’s defense for 297 rushing yards during its 38-26 win over the Buckeyes.
