Mattox Ignites Against Nelsonville-York
< < Back toAs if Meigs didn’t have enough shooters, the coaches in the TVC will put another player in their focus, Christian Mattox. Mattox led the Marauders with 23 points and defeated the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes 85-65.
With Kaileb Sheets and Colton Lilly not being able to shoot from the range, they were able to scoot through the Buckeyes 3-2 zone and score down the lane. Sheets finished with 19 points and six assists.
Although the score didn’t show, Nelsonville-York was able to utilize guard Hunter Edwards and forward Aron Davis. Davis was a force to be reckoned with from rebounding as he finished with 11, with nine of them coming in the first half. When Davis couldn’t find an open shot, he was able to kick it out to Edwards and helped him finish with 32 points.
With the victory, Meigs will look forward to a matchup that has a chance to be the Game of the Year for the TVC. On Tuesday Jan. 12th Vinton County will come to Pomeroy and battle in a game of undefeateds.
The Buckeyes will try to get rid of their losing streak in Belpre on Jan. 9th.
