The Dispatch reports that the fire at Karma Thegsum Choling temple was reported around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and took two hours to bring under control. A Columbus fire battalion chief says investigators won’t be able to determine if the fire was intentionally set until they’re able to get inside the building.
The chief says there were at least two trash fires and a garage fire in the area, but officials haven’t yet linked them to the temple fire in the city’s Franklinton neighborhood.
The temple for followers of Tibetan Buddhism was once a residential building.
