Notre Dame Dominates Lady Golden Eagles
< < Back to notre-dame-dominates-lady-golden-eaglesAfter a 20-2 run in the second quarter the Portsmouth Notre Dame Lady Titans continued to beat down on the Belpre Lady Golden Eagles on route to a convincing 54-25 victory.
The Lady Titans height became too much to handle for the Lady Golden Eagles as they out rebounded them 36-11 and scored over half of their points from the paint.
Hagen Schaefer was all over the court, dominating both sides of the ball. She finished with a game high 27 points, outscoring the entire Belpre team on her own. Her running mate, Regan Kayser, finished the night with 12 points on 6 of 7 shooting while tacking on five assists.
One Lady Golden Eagle took flight tonight, Cheyenne Barker. She cashed in 15 points but no other Belpre player could find more than three points.
The Division IV semifinal championship game started with a promise of a competitive game. No. 2 Notre Dame found itself down 10-14 at the end of the first quarter. No. 4 seed Belpre caught fire, shooting 2 for 2 from behind the arc. However, things soon changed.
After nailing their first two 3-pointers, the Lady Golden Eagles lost fire, finishing the night 3 for 26 from downtown.
Belpre’s cold shooting combined with Notre Dame superior size was a recipe for failure and they now find themselves on the outside looking in.
The Lady Titans will face off against the Waterford Wildcats next Thursday in the championship game. These teams have played twice so far this season and Waterford finished as the victors in both.
