Ohio’s Unemployment Rate Rises Slightly for March
< < Back to ohios-unemployment-rate-rises-slightly-for-marchCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – The state says Ohio’s unemployment rate rose slightly to 5.1 percent in March, matching the number from a year earlier.
That’s up from a revised figure of 5 percent for February.
The national unemployment rate rose from 4.9 percent in February to 5 percent last month.
The Department of Job and Family Services said Friday that the state had 294,000 unemployed workers for March, compared with 285,000 in February.
Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment increased 18,300 over the month to more than 5.49 million.
Job gains were reported in sectors including professional and business services, government employment and educational and health services. The categories reporting losses included manufacturing and construction.
