The Gallipolis Daily Tribune reports 47-year-old Richard Hurt was charged Thursday with tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse in Ohio. He’s charged with concealment of a deceased human body in West Virginia.
Investigators say the Gallipolis man told them he and 32-year-old Jessica Berry were at an Ohio home last month when she overdosed.
Authorities say Hurt told them he used a saw to dismember her remains, placed them in trash bags and buried them in Mason County, West Virginia.
Police haven’t confirmed the identity of the remains.
It’s not clear whether Hurt has an attorney.
