Nelsonville Man Indicted on Rape Charges
< < Back to nelsonville-man-indicted-on-rape-chargesA Nelsonville man is facing multiple counts of rape and domestic violence after an Athens County grand jury indicted him Monday.
James Michael Barr, 33, was indicted on three counts of rape and three counts of domestic violence by the grand jury. The rape counts are first-degree felonies and the domestic violence counts are first-degree misdemeanors, according to a press release by the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office.
The prosecutor’s office said Barr allegedly caused physical harm and sexually assaulted a woman between June 11 and June 24. He is also accused of assaulting a girl younger than ten years old on Sept. 22, according to the release.
Barr is being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail on a hold on a probation violation, according to jail records.
Arraignment in the case is scheduled for Oct. 5.
