Ironton May Layoff Firefighters

IRONTON, Ohio — The city of Ironton may be laying off three firefighters next month.
It’s an effort to solve a nearly $100,000 shortfall in the budget.
WSAZ reports that would cut the total number of firefighters from 17 to 14.
Fireman Aaron Collins says there’s not much optimism the layoffs will be avoided.
Ironton City Council will vote on the layoffs at their meeting Thursday night.
If approved, the layoffs would go into effect April 1.
