Ohio Produces Solid Results in Raleigh Relays
< < Back to ohio-produces-solid-results-in-raleigh-relaysOhio traveled to North Carolina this weekend to compete in the Raleigh Relays, a qualifier event with over 50 schools in attendance. When all was said and done, 11 Bobcats finished in the top 50 of their respective events.
Olivia Mayfield got things started in the 100-meter dash, timing 12.58, good enough for a top 40 finish. Senior Amelia Milton finished 13th in the 800-meter dash with a time of 2:12.11. Ellen Isaac placed in the top 50 of the 5k after her clocking 17:21.38. The 4×400 team consisting of sophomores Gracie Huffman, Erin Stewart, and Emily Deering, along with senior Marissa Handel came in 15th with a 3:53.20 mark. In the 4×800 the team consisting of senior Kaitlyn Logan, junior Ellen Isaac, and sophomores Madison Sury and Emily Deering, the Bobcats ran 9:14.90, good for ninth.
In field events, Olivia Mayfield had another top 40 finish in the long jump. The junior’s distance of 5.43m was good enough for 14th. Junior Jordan Porter earned third in the shot put with a throw of 15.10m. Senior Emma Ryan placed in 17th in the discus, distancing 43.27m, placed ninth in the hammer, and third in javelin with throws of 53.57m and 43.99m, respectively. Sophomore Gaza Odunaiya wasn’t far behind Ryan as she threw 40.74m in the discus.
Ohio hosts the Ohio Cherry Blossom Invitational on April 1. Teams like Marshall University and the University of Charleston will be competing at the Ohio University Track Complex.
