Trimble’s football team, like other teams in Southeastern Ohio, came into the season with laser focus on their first game.

Coach Phil Faires’ team was full steam ahead until they were told by an engineer that their nearly 80-year-old stadium is structurally unsafe, and must be fenced off from the public.

So, with home field advantage in question, the focus now goes to where the Tomcats will play their first game.

Faires remains hopeful that they can make Aug. 26 home game against Nelsonville-York possible for their seniors.

“I think there is still a chance to play here at home,” Faires said. “Obviously, we’ll have to have some bleachers brought in, but the field itself is in great shape.”

Glouster Memorial Stadium was build in 1938 during the Great Depression, and has been the staple of the community since it was built through the use of a government grant. Defensive coordinator Brady Trace considers it to “a historical monument for the community.”

Faires said the stadium is the center of the community every Fall. He, along with his players, have their own memories here that stretch back to Little League days.

“(The stadium) has always been a part of Trimble football these kids parents, even great-grandparents have played here,” Faires said.

The coach said a committee of community members has been established called the Trimble Facility Improvement Committee. Through the committee, accounts have been established with First National Bank for anyone who wants to donate to the maintenance of the stadium and facilities in Trimble.

The committee has been overwhelmed with the amount of support they have received with so many people and organizations willing to host fundraisers to help raise funds, according to Faires.

The committee will be offering official sponsorship packets that will include gift levels. The committee is asking that all potential fundraisers and/or solicitations go through Sherry Downs-Rossiter before being proposed to the committee.

If you are interested contact a committee member or go to the Trimble local school’s district office. Trimble Superintendent Scott Christman will be the best to contact with any questions.  Scott and the rest of the committee’s information are below to contact of donations:
