Lady Buckeyes Keep Rolling While The Boys Drop Only Game Of The Week
< < Back toAfter an up and down week, the Nelsonville-York Lady Buckeyes have hit their stride as they notched two wins this week to improve to 5-1.
The Lady Buckeyes travelled to Lancaster to face the Lady Golden Gales on Dec. 12 and pulled off an impressive 51-31 win.
Jessie Addis led the Lady Buckeyes with 20 points and Mary-Kate McCulloch added 15, including three 3-pointers. Grace Sinnott tacked on 8 points. The Lady Buckeyes outscored the Lady Golden Gales 26-10 coming out of the half.
Coach Bob Cassady said it was a good win for the team and felt his girls were evenly matched with division one Lancaster.
On December 14th, the Lady Buckeyes took on the Lady Bulldogs of Athens. Jessie Addis attempted to channel her inner-Russell Westbrook as she nearly posting a triple-double, finishing the game with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 steals whilst leading her team to a 55-39 win.
The Lady Buckeyes host an undefeated Vinton County team on December 18th, a team that Coach Cassady says has, “five girls that can handle the ball and shoot.”
After that, they travel to River Valley to take on the winless Lady Raiders on Dec. 21.
An action-packed week for the girls was quite the opposite for the boys of Nelsonville-York, as they lost their only game of the week against Alexander 82-45.
After a dramatic, 84-81 win over Vinton County the previous game, the Buckeyes came out flat, being outscored 25-6 in the first quarter.
Adding insult to injury, Justin Perry and Keegan Wilburn both went down with injuries in the second half.
On the bright side, Indian Lake transfer Brayden Allen saw his first action of the season, scoring 14 points. Ethan Bohyer also added 14 points for the Buckeyes.
The Buckeyes’ will travel to Wellston on December 19th and Athens on December 22nd before heading home on 23rd to face Trimble.
