Drug Bust in New Marshfield
< < Back to drug-bust-in-new-marshfieldA drug bust in New Marshfield ends with two people in custody and, according to the Athens County Sheriff, “evidence suggesting a high level of drug trafficking.”
On Tuesday, the Major Crimes Unit and Athens County Sheriff’s office entered a home on Old State Route 56 with a search warrant looking for a resident who already had outstanding drug arrest warrants. According to a press release they found nearly an ounce and a half of crack cocaine, methamphetamine and suspected heroin. Authorities say they also found 7 thousand dollars in cash, a handgun and digital scales.
Dechaun Emil Toliver, 25, of Springfield, Ohio and 53-year-old Rebecca L. Pickett, of New Marshfield, were taken into custody during the raid. Toliver, aside from the previous active felony drug warrants in Athens County, is charged with cocaine trafficking and possession – both are first degree felonies. Pickett is charged with possession and permitting drug use – those charges are 5th degree felonies.
Authorities say additional charges are expected.
