HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) – Hundreds of union workers disputing with a metal company in West Virginia have accepted a contract offer that has ended days of uncertainty regarding their jobs.

The employees of Special Metals in Huntington with United Steelworkers voted Monday to accept a contract offer the company made. The employees’ dispute with Special Metals began Friday when they were told to leave the plant after contract negotiations between officials with the company and Local 40 of the United Steelworkers had stalled over wages and benefits.

United Steelworkers staff representative Brian Wedge says the Special Metals employees were able to return to work as soon as Monday night.

Oregon-based Precision Castparts Corp. is Special Metals’ parent company. It’s a worldwide manufacturer of metal components for aerospace and power industries.
