From DJ Grumpy Grandma, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. EST
This Grumpy Grandma just returned from a trip up north, to the land of my ancestors — Minnesota.
Yes, all my relatives are 6’5″ and over and have blonde hair and high cheekbones, it’s a Scandinavian thing! Somehow I got the mousy and small genes, but I don’t mind, it’s easier for me to sneak places.
Minnesota is a land of incredibly large people prone to melancholy; the mean, icy waters of Lake Superior; and some dang good music. Prince (you know I stopped at Paisley Park, and it was weirder than I ever could have imagined,), Bob Dylan, Paul Westerberg, The Jayhawks, all of those musicians are from the land of lakes. Duluth, MN, also happens to be home to a location of my all-time favorite record store: The Electric Fetus! I haven’t been there since I was a pup, so I stocked up on some used CDs that my teenage self would have lusted after (to explain the ample Sparklehorse, Aimee Mann, etc.) as well as some delectable used vinyl. I didn’t even break the bank! I’m proud of myself, and I’m proud of the radio show I have cooked up for all of you.
From R@T, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. EST
For this weekend I don’t have a plan, which is common. I have some Tim Easton picked out and might feature some music that Dave has seen at the Americana Music Festival if he sends me updates. Make sure to check out our Spotify playlist on Monday.
