Two Armed Robberies Reported in One Night in Athens

According to a media release from the Athens Police Department, the first robbery happened on Rufus Street near Nelson Drive just after midnight.
The second robbery reportedly happened at about 12:35 a.m. at the intersection of West Union and South Shafer.
According to police reports, in the first robbery the suspect made off with the victim’s wallet which contained $200 cash and took a smartwatch valued at $600 from the second victim.
The suspect took off in a early 2000’s black four-door vehicle.
