7. Meigs Marauders (1-4)
Last but not least, at number seven is the Meigs Marauders. The Marauders are sitting at 0-2 in conference play and 1-4 overall. Their last two losses have come in conference play against River Valley and Vinton County. They could quickly turn their misfortunes in the conference around as their next two games come against Nelsonville-York and Athens.
6. River Valley Raiders (1-4)
The River Valley Raiders fill the number six spot on the list. The Raiders are 1-1 in conference play and 1-4 overall. The Raiders found themselves in a slump to start their season off losing their first four games. They turned things around last week as they found their first win against the Meigs Marauders 41-25.
5. Alexander Spartans (3-2)
At number five on the list we take a look at the Alexander Spartans. The Spartans started off hot winning their first three games but then lost their next two games to Athens and Wellston. Leaving them at 0-2 in conference play and 3-2 overall. Their losses have come from two of the better teams in the conference so there is plenty of hope left for their Spartans. You can’t mention the Spartans without talking about their impressive defense that has held opponents to only 62 points through the first five games.
4. Vinton County Vikings (2-3)
The Vinton County Vikings mark their spot on the list at number four. The Vikings hold a conference record of 1-1 and an overall record of 2-3. The Vikings have a solid ground and pound game and their defense has also shown promise, holding their opponents to 89 points through the first five games. They won big over Meigs and played Athens tight until the end so the Vikings could definitely make a late season charge up the list.
3. Athens Bulldogs (2-3)
Athens takes home the bronze medal at number three. Athens also suffered a slow start but have won their last two games, both being against teams in the conference. They are 2-0 in conference play and 2-3 overall. Joey Moore and the Bulldogs offense has been very impressive so far putting up 134 points through their first five games.
2. Nelsonville-York Buckeyes (3-2)
Coming in at number two is the Nelsonville-York Buckeyes. The Buckeyes also started the season off slow losing their first two games, both losses were to teams that remain undefeated to this point though. Since then, they have won three straight games in dominant fashion. One of their wins came from a 51-18 win over River Valley putting them at 1-0 in conference play and 3-2 overall.
1. Wellston Golden Rockets (4-1)
The Wellston Golden Rockets top the list at number one. They hold an impressive record of 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. They lost their first game of the season to Jackson who is still undefeated. After that loss they have won four straight games; one of those being against Alexander. They have held their opponents to only 54 points through five games, while putting up an impressive 128 points.
